A Little About Me

Well, you can probably guess by this point that I love graphic design. Experimenting with fonts, colors, and patterns is pretty much the best job ever. I could go on and on for a long time about how much I love it--but you'd probably get bored, so I'll move on.
Besides graphic design, I love Jesus, playing the piano and violin, cooking, photography, and spending time with friends & family. I'm blessed to live on a farm in Illinois and really can't imagine spending my life anywhere else.
Life is short, and I try to take time to enjoy all the little things in life: sunny afternoons, sweet tea, colorful sunsets, flowers growing by the roadside... if it weren't for the little things, life would be entirely big things, and we'd all be pretty stressed out!

Why I Design

When I first started a blog back in about 2006, I realized how much I enjoy graphic design. I also realized how stressful it is to try to run a blog and keep up with the design (especially when you're not happy with it, so you're constantly tweaking things). After starting my business, originally offering only blog design packages, I began to realize the same thing about running a business: it's a lot of work! Gradually, my business goals shifted, and I finally realized why I design: it's not so much because I love graphic design (though I definitely do love it). It's because I genuinely want to help you and your blog or business. I've been in your shoes, and I want to help.

My Goals

As I've built my business, I've realized that I have three main goals in every project:

Goal #1: Make your branding special. When you're completely in love with your corner of the internet, I know I've done my job. I know how it feels to be stuck with a blog design or logo you don't love, and I don't want you to have to deal with that. When I'm designing a blog, I try to gather all of your favorite patterns, fonts, and colors and plug it all in to create one gorgeous design that fits your business perfectly.

Goal #2: Keep the process simple and straightforward. As a fellow blogger and business owner, I know how hard it is to balance everything. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like I always have a to-do list that's longer than my arm. And when you're that busy, your branding tends to be neglected, and graphic design ends up on the very bottom of your list. So that's where I come in: I've streamlined my process so that it's easy and painless, and when we're done, you shouldn't have to do any worrying about your branding or design ever again.

Goal #3: No rushing. The great thing about my business is that it's fairly small, so I like to take the time to really get to know you and your blog or business. A cookie cutter design isn't good for anyone; you deserve something that fits you perfectly. A lot of larger design businesses with multiple employees can sometimes rush the process, leaving you with a design that isn't quite what you had in mind. I'm really proud to offer unlimited revisions, as I want you to be completely happy with your new look.
